The Power of a Pinterst Board

Unleash Your Brand's Creativity: The Power of a Pinterest Brand Board

In the fast-paced world of branding and marketing, establishing a unique and cohesive identity for your business is paramount. Your brand's colors, images, graphics, and overall aesthetic play a significant role in shaping your identity and leaving a lasting impression on your audience. But how do you go about creating a brand that truly reflects your vision and personality? One powerful tool to help you discover and refine your brand identity is a Pinterest brand board.

Let’s explore the magic of Pinterest brand boards and how they can transform your brand from a vague concept into a vibrant and coherent visual identity. This is one of the first steps I have my clients do so that I can get an idea of where they want to take their brand.

I'll also share a real-life example of how a client embarked on this creative journey with me and emerged with a brand that perfectly resonated with her personality and style.

The Creative Canvas: Pinterest Brand Boards

1. The Blank Canvas

When it comes to branding, it's not unusual to have only a vague idea of what you want. You may have a color or two in mind, a rough concept, or even just a feeling you want to convey. The beauty of starting with a Pinterest brand board is that you don't need a clear vision from the get-go. You can start with a blank canvas and let your creativity flow.

2. Curate Your Inspirations

Begin by pinning anything and everything that resonates with your brand or evokes the emotions you want to convey. Pin color swatches, images, graphics, fonts, business cards, websites, and even unrelated visuals that catch your eye. Think of Pinterest as your virtual vision board, where you can collect all your inspirations in one place.

3. Discover Patterns

As you pin, you'll start to notice patterns and themes emerging. Certain colors may consistently appear, or a specific style might dominate your board. Pay attention to these trends; they are the building blocks of your brand's identity. These patterns reflect your subconscious preferences and can guide you in refining your brand's aesthetics.

Real-Life Success Story

Let's dive into a real-life example of how a client transformed her brand using a Pinterest brand board.

From Light Pink, Black and White to Vibrant Personality

My client initially had a brand that was primarily black and white with a touch of pink. While this color scheme was elegant, it didn't quite capture the vivacity and energy she wanted to convey through her brand.  She is also a personal shopper so she is the brand.  She is selling herself and her shopping services (not a product).

During the design process, I encouraged her to create a Pinterest brand board and start pinning anything that resonated with her. As she pinned, she discovered a hidden passion for bright colors and bold graphics.

Slowly but surely, her Pinterest board evolved from a sea of black and white to a burst of colors. Bright pinks, blues, purples, and yellows began to dominate her board. This transformation wasn't forced or contrived; it was a natural evolution driven by her own preferences and personality. The result was a brand that felt authentic, energetic, and uniquely hers.
